Lazy T Ranch cattle herd grazing across the open Saskatchewan prairie
The Cattle

First-cut cattle. Less risk for the buyer.

Every animal is preg-tested and backed by an open animal guarantee, so the risk does not land on the buyer.

We run three genetics lines the market wants, and we hold the same constant, consistent quality load after load, year over year.

The Program

In around 600 pounds. Sold before 1,000.

Cattle arrive light, grow out on grass, and leave in uniform lots. We watch the European market's animal-welfare expectations and aim to stay ahead of them, not react to them.

01 / Arrive

In around 600 lb

Every animal starts through the chute: tagged, weighed, health-checked, and sorted by colour and weight into the group it will be raised with.

02 / Grow

Raised on grass, not in pens

About 1,500 head to a quarter-section, spread out and moving every day. Low stress and daily exercise is why the health holds and the frames grow.

03 / Sell

Sold before 1,000 lb

Lots ship in the same uniform groups they were raised in, so buyers know exactly what steps off the truck.

Genetics

Genetics buyers want.

Three exotic-cross lines, sorted and grouped so every lot feeds and finishes predictably.

Sorted for Consistency

Sorted before it goes to grass.

Everything is colour and weight sorted before it ever heads out to grass. Uniform groups feed more consistently, gain more evenly, and ship as tight, predictable lots.

The Guarantee

First-cut. Preg-tested. Guaranteed.

First-cut cattle, every load, preg-tested and backed by an open animal guarantee. That means less risk for the buyer and fewer surprises after the sale.

We do not chase volume at the expense of quality, so buyers get the same constant quality year over year. The proof is in who comes back: for the past two years, almost all of our cattle have gone to the same repeat feedlot buyer in Alberta.
